Report: Mariah Carey Sells James Packer Engagement Ring For Over $2 Million

Entertainment News

Mariah Carey has reportedly sold for $2.1 million the engagement ring her former fiance James Packer gave her, which is thought to be much less than it’s actually worth.

Carey, 48, who parted ways with the billionaire, 50, in 2016, kept the ring as part of the financial settlement they made in 2017 after the breakup.

However, despite Carey getting a huge amount for the bling, sources have said it could actually be worth up to $10 million.

Carey’s publicist reportedly told Page Six: “Mariah has been very vocal recently about her choice to move forward in her life surrounded by positivity.

“That requires leaving emotional and material baggage behind, including an old engagement ring from an ex-boyfriend.”

A source added that Carey had tried to keep the selling of the ring on the down low, with her reportedly getting the Los Angeles jeweller in question to sign a confidentiality agreement.

The insider shared, “There’s only one such ring. Mariah Carey’s public relations people are desperately trying to keep the story from the press, and have threatened the jeweller with litigation if he discloses her name.”

Another source insisted that Carey did not sell the ring because she was short of cash: “She owns multiple homes, her entire catalogue of music, and she’s had numerous successful tours and residencies.”

Packer and Carey first started dating in 2015 before they split in October 2016, just nine months after announcing their engagement.

Packer previously said that the relationship was a “mistake” and that he was “at a low point” in his personal life at the time.
